A wise man once said, “with great power, comes great responsibility”. However, not everyone can possess power. No doubt, we all know the Swedish Sultan as a player that is entertaining both on and off the pitch. The AC Milan striker is known as one of the best forwards in the history of the game with his flexibility in goalscoring, and as a controversial person outside the field with his branded arrogance/confidence. It is hard or even impossible to name another athlete in all the sports of the world who shares the sharp perspective of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. However, no one can blame him for it because of what he has been through and his accomplishments after. Ibrahimovic’s struggle started just after two years of being born with his parents’ unstable marriage that lasted for exactly two years. Throughout that, Zlatan faced constant fights, child neglect, and abuse. The effects of having a single parent and living a poor life manifested in Zlatan's stubborn attitude. Amidst everything, Ibra turned up to be a professional bike thief for a period of time. After receiving a pair of football cleats, Zlatan began playing football at the age of 6. At the age of 13, the infamous Zlatan has recalled hospitalizing a teammate. Zlatan had both strength and skill, but as an angry teenager, he could not manage to be responsible for his gifts. At the age of 17, Zlatan did what he does best and head-butted a teammate, got kicked out of the team, and found doors closing as he tried to start a career as a professional footballer. The Sweden Sultan started to see that without being responsible, power is useless. Zlatan made his professional debut for Malmö FF in 1999 and helped the club climb to the first division the following season. The 6’5″ striker then signed for AFC Ajax winning 2 titles though he also initiated a reputation as a temperamental player. The rest is history, as he won numerous singular awards and titles with giant clubs such as Inter Milan, Barcelona, PSG, Manchester United, and Ac Milan back in May 2022. Although an incredible talent and career, Zlatan has had clashes with those around him everywhere he has played. That could be a result of the conflict between his confidence/arrogance, but it may also go back to the circumstances of his childhood where he displayed a bad temper which he struggled to contain at times. Zlatan wrote extensively about a specific incident that occurred between him and Oguchi Onyewu in his autobiography, ‘I am Zlatan Ibrahimovic’.
